UCSF Global Neurology: Next Steps, Next Generation

Our Purpose

Supporting training, research, and innovation.

Neurological disorders (e.g., stroke, epilepsy, dementia) are increasingly recognized as one of the greatest threats to global health. More life years are lost to death or disability from neurological disorders than any other type of illness. Resources are unevenly distributed, with as few as 0.03 neurologists per 100,000 population in low-income countries and many countries with no neurologists at all.

We are invested in reducing the burden of neurological disease in vulnerable populations and training future global health leaders dedicated to addressing neurologic health disparities in San Francisco, the U.S. and beyond. Through collaborations with diverse global partners, our purpose is to develop transformative and sustainable solutions to improve the care of neurological disorders worldwide.
